Ballad Of Freedom Fest
Diane Kuhn - Sept. 1997

It was ten years ago today
Britt Small & Festival began to play
at a thing called Freedom Fest.

Skidmore, Mo
is the place we all go
to listen to Britt and his band.

This great little town of four hundred and four
welcomes us warmly when we come through its doors
to attend this great little event.

People come from near and far
by bus, plane, Harley or car
to honor America’s best.

The veteran’s of our great nation
receive our thanks and commendation
for keeping America free.

We won’t forget Reverend Steer, Sammy Davis,
John Musgrave or Greasy,
Who taught us the cost of freedom is never easy
and to never take it for granted.

We learned about the ones whose fate is unknown
We must never give up till they all come home
Dead or alive they deserve to be free.

Thanks to Carla and Cheryl and a whole lot of others
who work hard for a year for our sisters and brothers
to host Freedom Fest for us all.

Now lets look forward to Freedom Fest Eleven and more
Can’t wait to find out what the years hold in store.
Come back again. See you next year!
