Freedom Fest 2004

For the last two years, the Nodaway - Holt Elementary kids have done a penny drive to help raise
funds to bring in Moose, the live bald eagle.  The winning class gets a pizza party, sponsored by
Freedom Fest.  This year it was a very tight race between the 5th and 6th graders.  The fifth grade
raised the most money.  Sammy Davis, CMH Recipient, surprised the kids by coming and eating pizza
with them and talking about patriotism and the action in which he was awarded his medal.

Moose, the live bald
eagle, made her 8th
appearance at Freedom
Fest this year.  As usual,
she drew big crowds on
both Friday and
Saturday.  She is a very
important part of our
living history display.

Our living
history
displays are
growing each
year.  The
school kids
visited on
Thursday and
Friday with
our veterans
and with our
living history
participants.
It was all very
educational
and
interesting to
the kids as
well as the
adults.

Dick Soden, brought his 32 different state
flags and displayed them everyday around
the event grounds.  It was a very nice
addition.

The shelter house was decorated by Dick &
Marilyn Soden and Mike & Sherrie Penrod, we
appreciated their help.

The different vendors offered
several different items for sale
and display.

As usual, the motorcycle show was
a crowd pleaser.

The Maitland
Christian
Church Youth
Group did a
wonderful job
on their living
video.  As
usual, there
wasn't a dry
eye to be
found.

Freedom Fest is
second to none in
the quality of
entertainment it
provides.  These are
just a few of the
great entertainers.

the event.

John Steer was unable to attend this year
due to the hurricanes, but Teddy Bitner did
an awesome job filling in for him during the
all - faith church service.  Talking Bear
provided inspirational music during the
service.
