Independence Day
By Diane Kuhn

It was on my daddy's knee
When I was about three
That I first heard about the cost of liberty.

With a tear in his eye
He told me that the 4th of July
Was more than a lot of fireworks in the sky.

He went on to say
That there is a price to pay
To save and preserve the American way.

Now whenever I see the red, white and blue
I think of our veterans so proud and true
And I remember what it cost them to protect me and you.

Enjoy the fun in every way
But if you happen to see a veteran remember to say
Thank you for all our Independence Days!
